Skinny on Tights
With all the new, shorter dresses and mini skirts that you see all over this fall, you may sink into accessorizing despair. Some of them are impossible to wear without SOMETHING underneath them. But if you are like me and cringe at the thought of leggings, there is an alternative: TIGHTS. With lots of cool colors and patterns, you can wear tights this season with that new mini without looking like an 80’s nightmare.
According to the new article in Style magazine, Opaque tights are the way to go this fall. They can give you a more slimming look without looking like support hose. Match leg wear and shoes, such as black tights with black pumps, and don’t be afraid to wear colored tights to match your outfit. But make sure you don’t have too many patterns. If you have a patterned tight, pick a solid outfit. If your tights are wild, a more subdued outfit is the way to go.
Hanes Silk Reflections $8.50 (available at Macy's)
But beware of those patterned tights! A bold pattern will make your leg look heavier. To avoid: Over the top color. Horizontal stripes. Busy patterns.
But try a vertical stripe. It will make your leg slimmer and longer.
