New Milwaukee Stores and Sales
Vintage Fun at Bargain Prices
I love vintage t-shirts and funny logo shirts, I have to admit it. Everyone has one fashion "guilty pleasure" that they can't shake loose of, and a great vintage tee is mine. Previously I gave into my tee addiction at places like Hot Topic and Viktor-Viktoria in the Mayfair Mall. Even, god help me, St. Vinny's and Ebay. But that is all about to change.
Enter Shag, the new store located at 2218 N. Farwell Ave. It is a custom t-shirt store. Could anything be greater for the college-age crowd downtown? And for those of us who pretend to be college-age. (Me!) First you pick blank t-shirt (or undies or bib) of your choice for men, women or kids made by American Apparel. Then you pick out your logo, picture or cartoon and match it up with your choice of saying or phrase. They have 80's toons, movies, bands and famous landmarks to choose from. The prices are $15 for shirts and $10 for pressing on the transfer of your choice. Or bring in your own shirt and have a transfer set on for $10.
How did I hear about this place? Well, a friend was recenlty wearing a Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure t-shirt that was, quite honestly, awesome. Shag has a website, but right now it basically just has the store hours and location on it with a spot to sign up for their email newsletter. If you sign up for the newsletter you also get a 15% off coupon good for one item, which I think is pretty generous of them considering their already low prices.
In addition to this, Lela Boutique on Broadway in the Third Ward is having a brown bag sale on Saturday, 8/19. Everything you can fit into your brown bag is 50% off. Sweet! Lela's is a great store featuring local designers and consignment items, and I recommend checking it out.
