Fall Fashion Wishlist
So, I have a spent a significant amount of time online in the last few weeks and scouring magazines for months trying to figure out what my wishlist is for a fall wardrobe. Why? Because there are SO many different ways to go this year. Eventually, I will find "THE thing" that I love the most and that will be the backbone of my fall wardrobe. But for now I am in that heady, free period where just about anything could be my “it” piece. And to help myself into a style idenity, I have made a list of memorable pieces I have seen lately and things I have been lusting after.
The Apple Wants:
1. Sweater Vest
I have a great, great lacy top I purchased last year at TJ Maxx that looks fantastic under my chocolate colored French Connection sweater, but I have been dying to get it under a sweater vest to show off its great cap sleeves. I saw a girl walking downtown with a metallic sweater vest yesterday and had a terrible attack of envy.
2. A Large Belt
I couldn’t be happier about this trend. I have a higher waist, so a lot of the shirts with ties or belts built-in have loops set lower than my natural waist. With the new belted look, I am finally going to be able to show off my waist. Yes!
3. Gray V-neck Sweater
Ugh. My awesome, awesome staple gray sweater was ruined last year by a member of the vicious pack of animals that live in my house. Zoe, my killer attack cat, decided she was going to chew a hole in the corner of the folded sweater. This made a great barbell shaped hole through the front AND the back. I don’t think this is fixable folks. Sigh.
4. Satin Short Sleeve Blouse
I should add one cavat to this: Appropriate for work! I went on an orgy of silk and satin shirt buying last year that ended in tears for everyone. Not only were my shirts expensive, but they also were too low cut to be worn to work. So I was sad because I couldn’t wear them and my husband was sad because, even though I looked great, they were really expensive. Curse you, voluptuous chest! But I have a plan. I have my eye on the one above, from bebe and another great one from NY & Co., which was recently featured in SHOP, Etc. These have the satiny look I crave without the plunging neckline.
5. Trouser Jeans - Like these from the Gap
6. Flats
That don’t make me feel like I am ten years old!
7. Peep-toe heels
Another thing nature endowed me with is a freakishly small set of toes, so a lot of peep-toe shoes from last year didn’t really work out well for me. But the heels seem to be a lot higher this year, and so my foot kind of slides forward in the shoe making my toes visible. Ha ha! The peep-toe look finally within my grasp….
I am sure there will be many more things to add to this list, I will try and keep you updated on my fashion search!
